During the Changing the Guard ceremony, known as ‘Guard Mounting’, a new British regiment relieves the one on duty. The Queen’s Guard consists of the St James’s Palace and Buckingham Palace detachments. The New Guard during the course of the ceremony becomes The Queen’s Guard.
