New Walkabout Trail
New Walkabout Trail Tonight, I extended my walkabout well beyond my normal route to the other side of the slough. Someone built a nice new dock; seems a bit much for water two feet deep.

Milkweed Soon, the milkweed will have given up their seeds. They add so much beauty to a fall walkabout.

Gray Squirrel in the Forest These squirrels seem to be hard at work storing food for the winter. On every recent walkabout through the woods, they have been busy carrying nuts. Perhaps, they know something we don’t.

Sunset through the Forest Even when my walkabouts do not turn up any wildlife, a nice sunset poking through the trees becomes a bonus. Shooting into the light can be tricky. Reflections are not your friend.

White-tailed Deer in the Bush Tonight’s walkabout uncovered several deer romping around in the high grass. This one waited long enough for me to capture a simple click before bounding along with the others.

Walkabout Path Every so often, someone will ask me about my nightly walkabout paths. Although I would like to walk every night, sometimes my schedule gets in the way so they are not every night. Still, the paths can traverse neighborhoods, forests, grasslands, nature paths, and even no paths. This image shows a path with cut grass along a waterway. Notice the walker must duck under the tree branch to stay on the path.

Thistle Most folks don’t particularly like thistles. Leave it to the photog to consider beauty in a thistle. Thistles dominated several areas along tonight’s walkabout path. They seem to have a certain charm about them when they go to seed.
