Outliers | Horse Country

12/08/2021 Outliers | Horse Country

Outliers | Horse Country  The ranch reminds you of the specious old west with an old style buck and rail wood fence.  A buck and rail fence contains of a series of two poles crossed in an “x” pattern called “the buck.”  The buck is connected to a series of poles running parallel to the ground and attached along one side called “the rails.”  It’s commonly used in places where the ground is too hard to pound fence poles into the ground.  For more information and images, see Gallatin River Ranch | a 7 Image Story.

The Back Story   Just a simple click while leaning on the fence!   Note: I post an image everyday at hankconrad.com.

Nikon D200 Soup | Gallatin River Ranch Road   This road leads south and ends at the Gallatin River, which has some of the best fly fishing on the planet.  Big country has big ranches with long gravel roads that can distort perspective.  It’s really hard to tell how far are those mountains in the distance.  For the whole story with all images, see Gallatin River Ranch | a 7 Image Story.

Landscape Portfolio | High Desert Montana

Landscape Portfolio | High Desert Montana

Landscape Portfolio | High Desert Montana   On particular day our daily walk wound through the hills on the west side of the ranch.  The entire ranch is considered to be high desert.  These hills are a bit higher.  This high desert is also considered rattle snake country.  You do occasionally see them while hiking.  To see more, check out  Gallatin River Ranch | a 7 Image Story.

The Back Story    On our daily walk through the hills wound along a back country trail.  This image is just one of many beautiful scenes along the way.  Just too many simple clicks to count!

The Moment Before the Click | Gallatin River Montana

The Moment Before the Click | Gallatin River Montana

The Moment Before the Click | Gallatin River Montana   While crossing the small bridge into the Gallatin River Ranch, it’s not uncommon to see someone fly fishing.  In fact, the Gallatin River is a top fly fishing destination for Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout and an occasional Cutthroat Trout.  With the setting sun behind me, this scene began to unfold.  At first, it seemed like the fisherman might be the subject, but as the light changed, it revealed nice landscape image.  So, I decided to make it a landscape with a human included.  After walking up and down the bridge a bit to get the composition with beautiful late afternoon light, this scene came into focus.  The scene is  classic Montana with Gallatin fishing.  The only sound breaking the calm came from water ripples in the river.  A nice way to end the day!  Click!   For the whole story with all images, see The Moment Before the Click | a 7 Image Story.
