Nikon 1 V1 Potpourri | Husky Dogsled Huskies love the snow. They love to run and play in the snow. They would rather be outside running, playing, working, or just taking a nap in the snow than anything else, except possibly eating. As natural sled pullers, Huskies instinctively know they should pull the sled with other Huskies in their new pack. When the harnessed dogs are being attached to the sled, they are very excited; barking, jumping, and talking “Husky”. As soon the musher calls “mush”, the dogs all become quiet and start pulling the sled. As soon as the sled stops, they go back to barking and howling. Several dogs in this team were newcomers to dog sledding. With fresh snow falling, the trail had not been groomed like they typically are for races so the dogs had to break a new trail in the snow. Macro Flowers & Butterflies | Pug Watching Butterfly OK. it’s not a butterfly. In fact, he’s not even watching a butterfly. Still, this image reminds me of the intensity sometimes required when capturing butterfly images. In this case, cleaning the camera turned into a Pug moment. Want to rub noses?

In Search of Snowbirds | Pug Observing That’s all folks for “in search of snowbirds.” It’s been a fun February, but baby it’s cold outside. I’m ready to go inside for some cookies and hot chocolate. Hopefully, March will be warmer.

The Back Story Each year in January or February, the Free Spirit Siberian Rescue organization hosts a Husky Dogsled event in northern Illinois, with Huskies galore. Rescued Huskies coming to the event can run as part of a dogsled team. As natural sled pullers, Huskies instinctively know they should pull the sled with other Huskies in their new pack. When the harnessed dogs are being attached to the sled, they are very excited; barking, jumping, and talking “Husky”. Fine Art Portfolio | Pugs on Ice The Pugs seemed just a bit irritated that they had to go out in such bad weather. Pugs love the snow; ice, not so much. The slipping and sliding, even on the icy grass, put a new meaning to “do your duty.” They gave me “the look” as they were trying to make it back into the house. Black and white makes the night look more foreboding than color.
The Back Story This image was captured late one night after it had rained and turned really cold. The rain froze and it rained ice pellets. The pugs were slipping and sliding around. I was slipping and sliding around. After slipping on my butt, i got back on my knees just as the Pugs were trying to back into the house.
