Nikon D3x Bread Sticks | Storm Coming

11/13/2021 Nikon D3x Bread Sticks | Storm Coming

Nikon D3x Bread Sticks | Storm Coming    This storm blew up very quickly.  I grabbed the closest camera and used the lens on it.  It was spitting rain as I captured this image; 90 seconds later, it was pouring. By the way, the airplane is a Beech Bonanza.

The Back Story  A quick burst of 5 images is all it takes for HDR.    Note: I post an image everyday at hankconrad.com.

11/12/2021 Nikon D3x Bread Sticks | Zander & Nick

Nikon D3x Bread Sticks | Zander & Nick    Love everyone and they will love you back.  What goes around, comes around.  A Pug and any boy always have a special bond.  Pugs, like most dogs, instinctively know little girls and little boys are special.  Pugs seem to love them just a bit more when they are around them.  For more Pug wisdom, see Pug Wisdom | a 7 Image Story.

The Back Story  A spur of the moment simple click only happens if you have a camera in your hands.     Note: I post an image everyday at hankconrad.com.

Nikon D3x Bread Sticks | Midwest Wild Wind

11/11/2021 Nikon D3x Bread Sticks | Midwest Wild Wind

Nikon D3x Bread Sticks | Midwest Wild Wind    Witness the changing landscape of the American farm from family farm to corporate windmills; while, at least, the lightning stays the same. This image was captured in northern Illinois, close to the farm where I grew up.  Wow, has the land and farming ever changed since I was a kid.  At one time, the family farm was the mainstay of American agriculture.  Now, the family farms are all but gone.  The few that remain are huge.  The hedge rows are gone and one farm abuts to another.  The GPS tells the machinery operator which farm is which.  And, livestock production is mostly grown in large operations; not on the farm as it once was.  Most farms are now owned by corporations who hire the work done.  Still, lightning is lightning.

The Back Story  A simple click after stopping along a gravel country road made this image.   Note: I post an image everyday at hankconrad.com.

Nikon D3x Bread Sticks | Badlands Rocks

11/10/2021 Nikon D3x Bread Sticks | Badlands Rocks

Nikon D3x Bread Sticks | Badlands Rocks   The Badlands’ rock formations are distinguished by their vibrant red, tan, and white stripes.  Each stripe represents a different layer of sediment brought there by rivers and seas, millions of years ago.  Over time, the mud and grit hardened into layered sedimentary rock.  After sedimentary rock formed, the White, Bad, and Cheyenne rivers carved the flat floodplain into  sloping hills, jagged cliff faces, and precarious spires.  For more information and images, see The Badlands | a 7 Image Story.

The Back Story  Stop along the main road in Badlands NP, climb a small hill, and make simple click after focusing the PC-E lens.   Note: I post an image everyday at hankconrad.com.

11/09/2021 Nikon D3x Bread Sticks | Western Sandpiper

Nikon D3x Bread Sticks | Western Sandpiper   After a long cold winter, a walk on a sandy beach seems to revive the soul.  On this day, I just needed sand between my toes; the very concept of warm instead of cold.

The Back Story   This image was captured while laying on the sand.   Note: I post an image everyday at hankconrad.com.
