Nikon 1 V3 Hodgepodge | White Peacock Butterfly

1 V3 Hodgepodge | White Peacock Butterfly

Nikon 1 V3 Hodgepodge | White Peacock Butterfly   The Peacock butterflies are common in southern Texas and Florida.  They are found near ponds or streams in fields or parks as well as roadside ditches.  Their wing span measures 2 – 2 3/4 inches.  For more butterfly images, also see Peck Butterfly House | a 7 Image Story.

The Back Story   The Peck Butterfly House offers the opportunity to get very close to a number of beautiful butterflies. Time and patience are required to focus even though the butterflies are plentiful.   Note: I post an image everyday at hankconrad.com.

Nikon 1 V3 Hodgepodge | Contour Close

Nikon 1 V3 Hodgepodge | Contour Close   The naked eye can only get so close.   Macro photography can give you a very different perspective which is better than the naked eye.  Just look at the amazing detail in a simple flower.

The Back Story  My walkabouts tend to take longer in the spring.  It takes time and patience to capture nice macro images especially with a manual focus lens.   Note: I post an image everyday at hankconrad.com.

Nikon 1 V3 Hodgepodge | Spring Snow Storm   April snow storms aren’t all that unusual, particularly in northern Michigan.

The Back Story   Although this image came from a simple click, it was a carefully thought out click. Note, the exposure below.  Also, note it’s not a B&W image. Note: I post an image everyday at hankconrad.com.

Nikon 1 V3 Hodgepodge | Cooper's Hawk

Nikon 1 V3 Hodgepodge | Cooper’s Hawk   Although the Cooper’s Hawk is smaller than the Red-tailed Hawk, their sleek build and smooth plumage give them a more refined look.  The snow provides nice light contrast to show the hawk’s plumage.

The Back Story   Sometimes you go to the image, sometimes the image comes to you, and sometimes the image just happens.  Such was the case with this Cooper’s Hawk image.  This simple click was captured while I was working.  From time to time, I would look up from my laptop out the window.  Suddenly, this Cooper’s Hawk appeared.  After capturing numerous images, this one stood out.   Note: I post an image everyday at hankconrad.com.

Nikon 1 V3 Hodgepodge | Bubble Bee Thistle

Nikon 1 V3 Hodgepodge | Bubble Bee Thistle   Midwest thistles can grow to be very big plants; big weeds to most folks. When the thistles bloom, bees come around to pollinate. This bubble bee was very busy pollinating several blossoms on this six foot high thistle.
