Sandhill Crane Every os often on my walkabouts, I’ll see a Sandhill Crane. Every year a nesting pair comes back to a small lake along my walkabout path. Still, they stay pretty much in a secluded part of the lake so sightings are rare. In this image, the light is pretty hard since it was captured midday. Still nice to see them make their home nearby.
Water Lily The kayak makes such a good platform to capture images on the water like this water lily. Late in the day with relatively calm waters, the kayak allows you to hold the camera close to the water.
Piper Super Cub on Floats Float plane weekend is only a week away. On the weekend before Oshkosh, a small group of pilots ranging from heavy iron pilots to bush pilots, get together for back to the basics float plane flying. The Piper Super Cub, Alaska’s favorite bush plane, makes for great fun.
Water Smartweed Reflection These plants are just too beautiful to be considered a weed.

Piper Cherokee 235 This Piper Cherokee 235 is the plane I flew to Alaska and back some years ago. The 235 with a fixed pitch propeller cruises at around 133 knots while burning about 12 gallons of gas per hour. I have been preparing a series of posts depicting my Alaska flying adventure to be published soon. This image was captured using a film point & shoot camera, scanned using an Epson V600 scanner, and restored in post.
