Skydiving for Accuracy This chap missed this target, a circle the size of a thumbnail, by a couple of centimeters after jumping from a plane several thousand feet high, free falling, opening his parachute, and gliding down to hit the target fighting winds and thermals all the way to the ground. Two centimeters; that’s less than an inch. Amazing!
Skydiver Drama Yes, the human drama of a skydiver trying to hit a target on the ground the size of your thumbnail. It not only takes skills developed over years of training, but also concentration and strength. This chap, a Frenchman if think, is in great physical shape; typical for champion skydivers. It’s an amazing site to see these athletes jump from a plane several thousand feet high, free fall, open their parachute, and glide down to hit the target fighting winds and thermals all the way down. Of course, at these World Parachuting Championships, the skydivers are the best of the best. They make it look much easier than it is.
Skydiving Color The parachutes at the World Parachuting Championships are so colorful. Even with the deep blue, bald skies, the colorful parachute makes the photo.
This USA Skydiver is competing in an Accuracy Landing competition at the World Parachuting Championships held at Skydive Chicago Airport north of Ottawa, IL. Today’s competition with deep blue, bald skies and bright sun made image capture a challenge. I’ll post a few more images later this week.
Metal Birds This metal bird has found a home in a flower garden.
Windy Lake Michigan It’s a cool September day and the wind’s blowing at 25+ knots. It’s hard to standup straight and this guy in a wet suit is wind surfing along with a couple of friends. He must have known a photographer was lingering around the beach.
Did You Call: Husky? Jake’s one of the smartest and gentlest dogs I have ever known even though he’s a pretty big boy.
