Yellow Daisy
Yellow Daisy Tonight’s walkabout was late and almost dark. I even had to use fill-in flash on the daisy. The days are really getting shorter; fall is not far behind.

Small Steam Engine Each year over Labor Day Weekend, the Threshermen’s Reunion near Pontiac, Illinois attracts old steam engines from very large steam engine tractors to small ones like this image to very small stand alone engines. It takes us back to an era in the 19th century the where most people where farmers and most machinery was run by steam.
Busy as a Bee The bees were out in force on the walkabout.
Raindrops on a Day Lily Sometimes the best images on a rainy day are up close and personal. This Day Lily was loving the nice warm rain. The 50mm f/1.4 lens allowed me to get just the right depth of field. F/4 might seem a bit too much; remember the 2.7 crop factor on the Nikon 1 V3 make the 50mm into a 135mm equivalent.
Great Egret Great Egrets like to wade in shallow water to hunt fish, frogs, and other small critters. They will stand still and watch for an unsuspecting fish to pass by. Then, with lightning speed, they strike using their long neck and bill to stab they prey. Out of the water, they stand like a picturesque statue in nice light.
Parker is a little Lab, a little German Shepherd, and perhaps something else. He is all; nice dog.
Black Squirrel Although Black Squirrels are common in the midwest, there are none in my area or along my most regular walkabouts. So, whenever I get a chance to capture an image in my travels, I take it. This image appeared to my along a walkabout in a state park in Michigan.
