Amazing Raven Several folks have asked about the last Raven image posted a few weeks ago. Since posting that image, I have been reading a book that added to my minimal knowledge of Ravens. Ravens, as it turns out, are really quite amazing birds. They can fly over 20,000 feet. They adapt to a very wide variety of habitats including the harsh climate in Yellowstone. They adapt to living around humans quite well. They’ll eat a wide variety of foods. They even befriend wolves while still sharing in the wolves bounty. Yes, amazing birds! If you want to find out more about ravens, Yellowstone, and wolves, Rick Lamplugh’s book: “In the Temple of Wolves” is nicely done, great read.

Mule Deer on the Ranch Mule Deer roam the ranch all year long. They know a good thing when they see it. This yearling seemed quite happy to pose for a simple click.

Montana Chisel Plow Montana is called Big Sky Country. Well, Montana has some really big farms; dwarfing the size of most farms in Illinois. This image shows a chisel plow doing its thing with a little Cat providing the power.

Hidden Lake Trail Finally, we get a closer look at Yellowstone’s Hidden Lake. Why is it called Hidden Lake? Well, I’m not sure, but you can not see it unless you hike up to it. There’s no vehicle access to it. The trail has some climbing but can be mastered by most people.

Up to Hidden Lake Phew, we made it; a thousand feet up and 1/4 mile forward and here we are overlooking a high mountain wetland and lake. Yep, Hidden Lake in all its glory lies only another 1/4 mile away on relatively flat land; flat trail. Another great day in Yellowstone NP will end with a nice hike.
