Day on the Lake
Day on the Lake What a nice ending to a beautiful day on the lake! With clouds like that, a simple click captured the moment.

Once a Gateway Sometimes, a walkabout can be a bit boring without wildlife or even decent light. Still, occasionally, an unusual image presents itself.
Illinois Farm Even the flat land of Illinois sometimes makes a dramatic landscape image. This image was captured just as rain showers were moving off stage left. Within an hour, the clouds were gone and the sun had set.
Hawk vs. Snake It’s really no match; the hawk wins almost every time. Tonight I attended a talk given by John Granata, an accomplished fine art photographer and artist, sponsored by MAPS, Morton Arboretum Photographers Society. It was too dark to capture an image after the talk so I found an image captured at the arboretum a few years ago. This image is one of a series of this hawk captured just off the road going through the arboretum. He was too busy with the snake to worry about a few vehicles passing by. By the way, if you live in northern Illinois and have not been to the Morton Arboretum, you are missing a great treat.
Let’s go flying! The title says it all.
Bear @ Zoo Although I am not much for capturing images of animals in a zoo, it was part of a fun day. This bear really put on a show for the kids. As you can probably tell, this image was captured through thick plexiglass. It’s not the best shoot, but fitting for a fun day at the zoo.
Great Blue Heron Today’s walkabout skirted a small lagoon where this Great Blue Heron frequents. I have learned to dial in a high shutter speed just in case there’s a chance to catch a bird in flight. Today was not one of those days, but still a nice walk.
White-tailed Rabbit My walkabout tonight was uneventful. This rabbit was the only wildlife around. Notice ISO 3200! On a Nikon 1 V1, ISO 3200 is high with noticeable noise. So, I ran this image through NIKs Define to remove the noise.
