Wildflowers During the walkabout today, the sun finally poked it’s away around a cloud after several days of mostly cloudy or rainy skies. Nice light just surrounded these wildflowers.
Spectacular Thistle Sometimes, when shooting an image a day, the uncommon image strikes you as beautiful. Most folks would not consider a thistle as a beautiful plant. Somehow, today, it just talked to me.
Pronghorn at Wind Cave Pronghorn, the fastest land animal in North America, are also beautiful and graceful. During my annual Badlands trip, pronghorn are a plentiful subject. Again, since I am not able to go this year, this image helps me remember happy times at Wind Cave NP.
Badlands Revisited The Badlands are one of my favorite places to visit and capture images. During the first week of June, Badlands NP displays its greenery. For the past several years, I have been been able to visit during this week. Unfortunately, it appears I will not be able to go this year. So, today’s post remembers a prior visit.
This Common Snapping Turtle was right out in the open in my backyard digging for a place to lay eggs. The Nikon 1 V1 with the 70-300mm (focal length 810mm) lens allowed me to stay far enough away to not disturb her. Although the grass was a bit wet, it was worth it to get a turtle’s eye view. Hopefully, by summer’s end, a few baby turtles will appear.
Thunderbirds: Today would have been the start of the annual Rockford Air Fest. So, it just seemed fitting and proper to show an image from last year’s fest; the Thunderbirds. Perhaps, next year, the flying weather in Wash DC will not be so stormy.
The beautiful blue Michigan water makes a nice background to this Cygnet Swan. With its mother just a few yards away, it did not seem to have a care in the world.
