Cardinal Beats the Snow: Today, I had to be inside all day. This little Cardinal was looking for food next to the snow line formed by where the roof blocked the sun; just outside the window. He almost acted like it was spring instead of winter.

I’m All Ears! Meet Elwood, an 5 month old , Alaskan Husky. He’s all ears, and paws, and lanky legs. He’ll be a big dog. Elwood is one half of a pair; Jake and Elwood; both Alaskan Huskies. Although not visible in this image, Elwood has one blue eye and one brown eye.

Meet Fred. He’s an old guy who likes his warm bed better than outside play time. Using the 50mm f1.4 really helps draw the viewers eyes into the image. It seems to be on the D300 more often than not.

Red-tailed Hawk Although the snow has melted, it’s still February 1st and a bit chilly this morning. The dogs go out the door in a rush as always barking just to see if anyone barks back. Out of the corner of my eye, birched on a nearby tree, there he is; a Red-tailed Hawk. Run back up stairs, quick change the lens, and back to capture an image of this majestic bird; quick work for the 70-200mm. Then, in a flash, he was gone to go hunting. Glad I am not a field mouse.
