Mary Davis – 30th Birthday
Obviously, this photo was taken by a professional when mom was 30 years old. I restored it using an Epson scanner and Aperture.

Mom was technically my aunt, but she raised me. Here, she is 16 years old. I restored this image by scanning it with an Epson scanner and adjusting it with Aperture. Restoring older photos is not particularly difficult, but it does take time. For those very important photos, it’s worth the effort. This image is the only remaining image of mom when she was 16 years old.

Mom passed away today. She was actually my aunt Mary, my dad’s older sister, but really more like my mom. She and her husband Milford raised me from about 10 years old. She was the kindest, nicest person I ever met. I can not imagine a heaven without Mary in it. She bought me my first camera, a Kodak 35mm Signet with a flash. It was all manual, but mom loved some of the photos it took. One photo of mine, a sunset taken from the front porch of the farm, she printed and framed in an 8 x 10, which hung in the hallway or her bedroom for the rest of her life. As you might expect, this is a difficult time for my family. I will not be posting for several days. Hopefully, I’ll come back after a few months and post a few images of mom.
Big Bird: a Wild Peacock? This Peacock on the horizon just appeared from over the hill as I was driving down a farm road on my way home. There was barely enough time to grab a camera and get a couple of shots out of the window. Had I known at the time that is was a wild Peacock, I would have probably tried to capture more images.
Farmland Sunset The changing landscape of the Midwest farmland dotted by windmills can be as dramatic as the mountains or the seaside, at times. The challenge, of course, is to capture the essence of the moment. Rest assured, I’ll keep trying.
Bird in a Cage: This little guy was caged in the building I was visiting. The image was captured through glass.
Snowy Night My days have been very busy lately, so my walkabout turned out to be rather late tonight. After a small snowfall today, the night is calm and serene.
