The Lone Tree | Prairie Winter on the prairie of the Great Plains can be a beautiful, yet cold and desolate, place. For the whole story with all images, see The Lone Tree | a 7 Image Story.
The Lone Tree | Yellowstone The acidic or alkaline water and steam runoff from nearby geysers killed these trees. Several geysers are steaming in the background. The water steam flow periodically floods the area, killing the lodgepole pine trees. Then silica precipitated upon the dead tree trunks creating the white “bobby sock” trees. This silica slowly impregnates the wood and over time, could eventually petrify the wood. For the whole story with all images, see The Lone Tree | a 7 Image Story.
The Lone Tree | Wind Cave This lone tree has been my most frequent subject at Wind Cave. The sky and weather didn’t always cooperate with my visit. For the whole story with all images, see The Lone Tree | a 7 Image Story.
The Lone Tree | Michigan The sun setting through the lone tree’s silhouette adds a certain warm to an otherwise cold winter day. For the whole story with all images, see The Lone Tree | a 7 Image Story.
Why post an image a day? | Standout Tree The lone tree is one of my favorite views. This tree isn’t exactly alone. Still, it stands out among the other trees and the background. It’s another standard, simple click from daily life; nothing special, just meaningful. See Why post an image a day? | a 7 Image Story for the whole story.
A Lone Tree on a hilltop with a bit of back lighting makes for a must “click”.
Lonely Tree Although, it was a grey snowy day on a lake southeast of TC, my walkabout was quite challenging. The snow must have been a couple of feet deep in many places. Next year, show shoes will be in order. Did I mention the cold? The P7000 stayed nice and warm inside my coat; didn’t seem to mind the weather.
