Austin

Austin

Austin just before dark!  This image was captured handheld.  At 1/4 sec, it’s at the edge of my ability to get a sharp image handheld.  So, perhaps, it’s not the best image, but still it shows that you can get a passable image even if you’re not equipped with the proper gear; in this case a tripod.  The underside of this bridge, the Congress Ave bridge, over the Colorado River, happens to be the daytime home for thousands of bats.  Just before dark, they begin to come out for an evening of fun and games as well as a bit of hunting.  It’s quite a spectacle; in good weather, hundreds of people come out to see the bats.  It takes several hours for all the bats to leave the bridge.

Wrigley Building

8/23/2013 Wrigley Building

The Wrigley Building stands for Chicago.  It’s arguably the most, certainly one of the most, iconic buildings in the Chicago skyline.  This image was captured handheld.  It would have been nice to move a bit closer, but the middle of a busy street corner was not an option.

The City

The City

The City:  Today was obviously a city day.  This image was taken from about the 25th floor of an office building looking southeast. I’m not sure what the buildings are; perhaps the old Standard Oil building in the far left and the State of the Illinois building in the far right or maybe that’s the new Trump Tower.  Guess I had better study up on the Chicago Skyline.
