Think It Will Snow?

Think It Will Snow?

Think It Will Snow?  Just after first light in Hyalite Canyon a few years ago, we were trying to capture a few images.  We drove up the canyon road and stopped about a third of the way up the mountain; just as the rain was turning into snow.  This image was captured with about half rain and half snow falling.  The snow flakes were huge and it was starting to accumulate.  Notice how a shutter speed of 1/60 blurred the snow and rain just enough.

Young Bighorn Sheep

Young Bighorn Sheep

Young Bighorn Sheep are called lambs, but this guy seemed too big to be called a lamb.  He was a very curious sort.  After I had positioned myself out on a cliff to capture a different image, he started to follow me.  He blocked my way back off the cliff for about a half hour.  He just stood there.  The cliff was a couple hundred feet down on all sides so I had to wait and enjoy the view of sunrise over there Badlands.  Finally, he moved on.

Windy Illinois Color

Windy Illinois Color

Windy Illinois Color  Illinois isn’t necessarily known for its grand fall color, but it has its moments.  This image comes from Johnson’s Mound; a small forest preserve just south of Elburn IL.  It’s relatively small but quite secluded most of the time unless a sporting event is underway on the grounds.  An abundance of small critters and sometimes larger critters inhabit the preserve.
