Mackinac Bridge

Mackinac Bridge

The Mackinac Bridge spans the Straits of Mackinac to connect the Upper and Lower peninsula of Michigan. The 8,614-foot bridge is the world’s 16th longest in total suspension and the longest suspension bridge between anchorages in the Western hemisphere.  It opened November 01, 1957 with a length: 26,371 ft, height: 552 ft, width: 67′ 11″, longest span: 3,799 ft, and clearance below: 154 ft.  Beyond the statistics, it’s just an impressive structure particularly in the soft light of late afternoon.
