Yellow Pond Lily

Yellow Pond Lily

Yellow Pond Lily  This Yellow Water Lily image will be the last from my kayak water-abouts.  The Yellow Water Lily, sometimes called Spatterdock, grows in lakes, ponds, and slow-moving rivers.  This perennial has thick rounded or heart-shaped leaves which can grow up a foot wide.  The leaves are attached to a long stalk extending to the mud below.  Usually the leaves float on the water, but the stalks is not very flexible so the leaves can be above or below water especially if tides are present.
