7/01/2013 Great Blue Heron

This Great Blue Heron was sitting in a soybean field less than a mile from the airport.  The beans aren’t very high yet, but still, it seems like a very unusual place for a heron to sit.  And, it was sitting about 20 yards from the road.  Upon my return from the airport after about 30 minutes, it was still sitting there.  Perhaps, it was injured.  Later, just before sunset,  I returned to the site, but it was gone leaving no evidence as to why it was there earlier.
